Masatoshi KOSHIBA (Senior Counselor of International Center for Elementary Particle Physics and Emeritus Professor of University of Tokyo) has won the Nobel Prize in Physics 2002.

We were informed from the ROYAL SWEDISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCE on 8th October that they would confer the Nobel Prize in Physics 2002 on Dr. Masatoshi KOSHIBA (Senior Counselor of ICEPP and Emeritus Professor of University of Tokyo). The reason behind his receiving the Nobel Prize is "for pioneering contributions to astrophysics, in particular for the detection of cosmic neutrinos".
